Children’s Life Insurance

News

Children’s Life Insurance

28 May, 2018 by Tom Grant

Children’s Life Insurance

We regularly get asked here ‘can we buy life insurance for their children?’

The simple answer to the question above is that you can’t take out a Life Insurance policy on a child separately. However the good news is that, when you take out cover your children are insured as an extra benefit to your policy.

Every parent plans to outlive their children. If the unthinkable happened to your child, you would have one less thing to worry about during such a difficult time with a life insurance policy for him. That policy would cover the expenses of a funeral, which could run into the thousands if you had to pay for these costs on your own.

Life insurance for children can bring you the peace of mind you need. A life insurance policy valued at €7,000 would more than cover funeral costs should tragedy strike.

If this is important to you, please contact us so we can advise you on the most appropriate plan to suit your needs.

This free cover includes all of your children up to the age with some insurers
The amount of free cover varies also. Each insurer offers different amount of FREE cover for each children.

Zurich Life €7,000
Aviva €2,500
Friends First €5,000
Irish Life €7,000
New Ireland €4,000
Royal London €5,000

Serious Illness Cover for Children.

With two young children myself, writing this article is sending shivers down my spine evening, however the reality is that EACH YEAR IN Ireland over 200 children under the age of 19 are diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, according to the National Cancer Registry, Ireland’s child cancer death rates are among the lowest in Europe.

When it comes to Serious Illness Cover for children, the good news is that they are covered for FREE under their parents policy. This is provided that the parents have Series Illness cover on their plan.

Like Life Insurance each insurer has different amounts of free Series Illness cover. The table below illustrates this.

Friends First: The lower of €20,000 or 50% of the parent’s illness cover amount. Max age of child is 21

Royal London: The lower of €25,000 or 50% of the parent’s illness cover amount. Max age of child is 21

Aviva: The lower of €25,000 or 50% of the parent’s illness cover amount. Max age of child is 21

Zurich: The lower of €25,000 or 50% of the parent’s illness cover amount. Max age of child is 21

New Ireland: The lower of €25,000 or 50% of the parent’s illness cover amount. Max age of child is 21

Irish Life: The lower of €25,000 or 50% of the parents illness cover amount. Max age of child is 25.

Additional Benefits for Children on Life and Serious Illness Polices.

The great news is that children also are covered with some great extra benefits such as Hospital Cash Cover, 2nd Medical Opinion Service, Guaranteed Insurability and more.

Remember, when taking out Life Insurance or Series Illness for yourself, you are really taking out a Family Insurance Plan.

It is vital that you are getting the plan to suit you and your family’s needs.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us, if you have any questions regarding Children’s Life and Series Illness Cover.

Life Insurance for Overweight People

30 November, 2017 by Tom Grant

Life Insurance for Overweight People

Something not many of us consider when buying a life Insurance plan is our height and weight.

Life insurance is one of the best investments that can ever make for the future of your loved ones. It’s one of the only ways that you can guarantee that they have the money that they need, regardless of what happens to you.

Life insurance and BMI may not even seem like an issue for someone who is healthy and has an average weight, but it actually affects everyone.

Can Overweight People Get Affordable Life Insurance?

Yes, in most cases you can, as insurers are quite forgiving when it comes to pricing life insurance for overweight people…and some insurers are more lenient than others too.

If you have a Body Mass Index of 33.5 or less, we should find you cover for the same price as everyone else.

Insurance companies underwrite life insurance for overweight people on a case by case basis depending on age, whether you smoke, if there are other weight related health issues etc.

Recently we succeeded in getting Life Insurance at the standard price for a man who is 6ft 2 and 19st 7lb stone. He had a BMI of 35.1 He was a Munster Rugby Player and trained nearly every day and lifted weights on a weekly basis. We had to argue his case but we got him standard rates eventually.

The average person’s Body Mass Index (or height to weight ratio) is about 26. However even if you have a Body Mass Index of up to 45, we are still confident that we can find you life insurance.

We specialise in finding life insurance for overweight people, as well as critical illness insurance and income protection.

So, just because you’re overweight, don’t assume you will have a loading (increase) in your premiums.

We are experts in knowing which insurers will consider your application, given your high body mass index, with a wealth of knowledge and years of experience. Most importantly, we do all the work for you making this a hassle-free and streamlined process.

If you have an existing plan, and you were loaded because of your weight, give us a call and we will review your plan and we will do our best to get your premiums lowered.

If you’re worried about your weight affecting your life insurance, call us here.

As experts in this area we will hopefully get you affordable cover…

..or click here to complete the short enquiry form below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Can I get Mortgage Protection with Diabetes

24 November, 2017 by Tom Grant

Can I get Mortgage Protection with Diabetes?

Yes you can!

Premiums on mortgage protection for people with diabetes are likely to be higher than for those without the condition, some insurers may even decline your application.

If you have diabetes and have applied for mortgage protection in the past then you will know how difficult it can be. This is where our team of Mortgage Protection experts can assist – we’ll help you to find the best cover for you at the right price. Luckily for you will know the insurers that are more lenient to those with diabetes.

We aim to save you money on the premiums that you pay for mortgage protection by searching the market to find you the best Mortgage protection provider.

Our expert advisors have experience with getting cover for clients with diabetes so we understand what you need and we are here to make sure that you get it.

How does diabetes affect your mortgage protection?

It is possible to get mortgage protection if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, but your premiums will depend on the severity of your condition and your HbA1c readings.

Most people with diabetes who are applying for mortgage protection will find that their premiums will be loaded by the mortgage protection provider.

This is why mortgage protection underwriters will assess your diabetes based on a number of key factors and measurements, such as:

  • Age of diagnosis
  • Most recent HbA1c reading
  • Details of all blood sugar tests, kidney function tests, urinalysis & cholesterol
  • Type of diabetes
  • Medication (e.g. diet, metformin or insulin)
  • BMI
  • Existing diabetes complications
  • Records of treatment

You may find that certain insurance providers previously declined you for mortgage protection because of your diabetes. This does not mean that every insurance provider would decline you, so it is important to speak to one of our experts to ensure you apply to the best insurance provider for you.

It is very important for anyone with diabetes to apply to insurance providers with strong underwriting for your condition. Our team of experts know exactly which insurance provider will be the best for you and it is our job to make sure that you get the best cover in place at the right price.

Critical illness cover for diabetes

Over the last several years there has been a move towards more flexible underwriting for critical illness cover with diabetes.

Unfortunatly it is still extremely difficult to get Serious Illness cover for those with Diabetes. We are constantly working with mortgage protection providers to help improve underwriting for critical illness cover for people with diabetes.

As a diabetes life insurance specialist we are constantly working with insurance providers to develop new products and help them to improve underwriting for you.

What is the application process for mortgage protection with diabetes?

  • Get a quote online (www.onelifeinsure.ie/life-insurance/) or get in contact with us 01-5390410 or tom@onelifeinsure.ie
  • We will advise you on the most appropriate plan.
  • No forms to fill in- Quick and Easy Application Process. Completing your application couldn’t be easier, there are no forms for you to fill out. You can complete your application over the phone in about 5 minutes and sign it securely online in minutes.
  • During this call we will complete a diabetes questionnaire. The more information we give the insurer at the application stage the better.
  • The mortgage protection company will probably request a report from your doctor.
  • We will bring the policy back to you with the underwriting decision and from there we will add the finishing touches to your cover

Finally

As I mentioned already, it is difficult to get cover if you have diabetes, but my advice is to contact us, let us do the hard work for you and I will be confident that I can get you a decent amount of cover to suit your budget.
